The Public Security Police also reports that starting at 06:00 on Thursday, there will be several traffic constraints in downtown Lisbon, starting in the Praça do Comércio area and extending to other parts of the city, namely near the Assembly of the Republic, São Bento Palace, Marquês do Pombal, Avenida da Liberdade and Belém.

The head of the operational area of ​​the Metropolitan Command of Lisbon (Cometlis) of the PSP, Manuel Gonçalves, told Lusa that the security force's device for Thursday will be diversified with several assets on the ground, but did not specify how many police officers will be deployed.

"Given the diversity of events that will take place, a plan and a quantification have been made, which, if everything goes as expected, we consider to be sufficient to ensure that everything runs normally", said the official, stressing that in all places where there will be events and demonstrations there will be "a police device to ensure security".

Manuel Gonçalves indicated that the police presence will be visible in the ceremonies associated with the commemorations of the 50th anniversary of April 25, with another device "specially prepared to ensure that all demonstrations take place with due normality".

"We assess the risk of various situations. We have some, obviously, that are confirmed and duly communicated and then, obviously, we foresee scenarios and the possibility of other situations occurring. Obviously, up to now we have no formal knowledge of any demonstration that will take place at the Assembly of the Republic, but if it occurs, regardless of its nature, we will be prepared to guarantee security", he said.

According to the PSP, the demonstration scheduled through social networks by the 'inorganic inop' movement, composed of elements of the PSP and the GNR, for 08:30 at the Assembly of the Republic has not, to date, been communicated to the Lisbon City Council.

Asked about the 'habeas corpus' demonstration, led by the judge expelled from the judiciary Rui Fonseca e Castro, Manuel Gonçalves said that there will be no special police presence, being "a normal device for this type of demonstration, regardless of the political spectrum".

"From the moment when everyone expresses themselves adequately, without inciting violence and without questioning principles and freedoms, any of the demonstrations will be treated in the same way", he said.

In a statement, Cometlis states that the traffic constraints in the Praça do Comércio area will be from 06:00, near São Bento from 07:00, in the streets near Marquês de Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade from 12:30 and at the Belém Cultural Center and the Ajuda National Palace from 16:00.
