At the end of the first meeting with the new team of the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation, the FNE secretary-general defended that teachers need a sign from the supervisory authority, which must be given in the next two months, so that "the beginning of next year starts with tranquility and peace".

Pedro Barreiros was referring to the negotiations that will start in May for the counting of about six and a half years of frozen work during the Troika period.

"The negotiation processes that have now started will have to be finished at the latest by the end of May, beginning of June", he told journalists at the end of the meeting with the supervisory authority, recalling that the Government has proposed an annual recovery of 20%, but for the FNE the formula to be applied "cannot be less than 30%".

In addition to the recovery of service time, the FNE recalled that there are other problems in schools, ranging from indiscipline in classrooms to the lack of teachers.

Speaking to journalists, the Minister of Education, Science and Innovation, Fernando Alexandre, reaffirmed the intention to start counting the frozen service time this year, expecting to return 20% now and the remaining 80% in the next four years of the legislature.

Fernando Alexandre highlighted the "very positive spirit" of the meetings held on Thursday and today with the 12 union structures, reaffirming that the recovery of service time was at the center of all these meetings.

Regarding the cost of the measure, the minister said he has a team making the calculations that should be known very soon.

All the unions defended a faster recovery, having presented several formulas, from a recovery in just two years, going through three and even four years.

In addition to the minister, the meetings were attended by the Secretary of State for Education, Alexandre Homem Cristo, the Secretary of State for Administration and Educational Innovation, Pedro Dantas da Cunha, and the Secretary of State for Public Administration, Marisa Garrido.
