The parties that Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez today accused of "harassment" in the context of the investigation into his wife, Begoña Gómez, have already reacted.
In a statement quoted by the Spanish press, Vox considered that the 'threat' presented by the head of government, who said that he would "reflect" on his place in office, was "a new victimization and performance". "The same [ruler] who committed the greatest political corruption: buying his investiture by amnestying criminals. The same Pedro Sánchez who is now trying to victimize himself to cover up the swamp of corruption that floods his mandate: from Delcy's suitcases to Mrs. Goméz's mediations. If he wants to reflect, let him do it, but after resigning", reads the message from the far-right party.

On the side of the Popular Party (PP), the other party 'targeted' by Sánchez, it was Senator Javier Maroto who reacted first, after the Spanish head of government also announced that he was suspending the agenda until the 29th of this month. "Sánchez's umpteenth pirouette. And an act of pre-campaign, as always, victimizing himself: he is good and the others are evil", accused the senator, in a publication shared on the social network X (formerly Twitter). "Of course he wants to stay in Moncloa [headquarters of the Spanish government presidency]. At all costs. And at any price. It's the 'Pedro Sánchez' brand. On Monday, we'll all see", he concluded.

What's at stake?

Sánchez admitted, this Friday, that he would "stop to reflect" on his position in the government, after an investigation into his wife was opened. At issue are possible crimes of influence peddling and corporate corruption.

In a letter to citizens, shared on social media, Sánchez 'fell on' the more right-wing parties, accusing these two mentioned above of "harassment" and "demolition". The Spanish leader also says that the parties are trying to make him lose "political strength" by attacking his wife.
