Following Ali's death on August 24, 2023, her husband and their daughter moved from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, to Cullompton, Devon, to be closer to her family.
However, in a tragic twist of fate, Steve was diagnosed with a glioblastoma, the fastest growing type of brain cancer, in 2022 after suffering an unexpected seizure.
According to the Daily Mail, scans revealed he had a tumour on the right side of his brain and he died in a hospice seven weeks after his wife, with the couple leaving behind a 13-year-old daughter.
"To lose him and Ali in such a short space of time is absolutely heartbreaking," said Steve's nephew, Ben.
In the wake of the family tragedy, Ben has set up a fundraising page to raise money for research into the disease, which can often be silent.
