With this triumph, Portugal ends this qualification phase with four points, behind England, with nine, but ahead of Italy and Switzerland, with two and one point, respectively.

Still looking for their first goal in this qualifying phase, the Portuguese team started the match on the attack and just three minutes in, Lara Martins had the first duel with the Swiss goalposts. Launched by Mafalda Mariano and after getting the goalkeeper out of the way, the forward hit the post with the goal wide open.

At 12 minutes, it was Fuchs, the Swiss goalkeeper, who deflected a corner from Mafalda Mariano onto the bar, and at the half-hour mark, it was Benfica's own midfielder who hit the post with a shot from outside the area.

Switzerland's first dangerous chance in the game came shortly after, with Catarina Potra preventing the first goal with a point-blank save from Potier, and two minutes later, at 35, Neide Guedes managed to break the deadlock. After a good combination on the right flank, the Portuguese player attempted a cross, but the ball was deflected and ended up in the back of the Swiss goal.

In the second half, Switzerland returned to the pitch more advanced on the pitch and Portugal went through the most difficult phase of the game. With little space to play, there was a lot of fighting in midfield and, physically stronger, the Swiss won several duels with the young Portuguese players.

However, the team led by Marisa Gomes endured this more difficult period and had the best chance to score, in the 73rd minute. In a counter-attack, Carolina Santiago passed the entire Swiss defense and was only stopped by Irina Fuchs, in another great save by the Swiss player. On the rebound, Luísa Brás tried to deflect the ball to the far post, but overshot and the ball just missed the post.

Until the end, Portugal, settled in the Swiss midfield, kept their opponents away from Catarina Potra's goal and won the three points, which allowed the Portuguese to win second place in Group A3 of the qualifiers, with four points, behind England, who had nine points in three games and qualified for the European Championship.
