The PSD, the party chaired by the current prime minister, Luís Montenegro, who is attending but not speaking at the session, took a different approach and will place the young deputy Ana Gabriela Cabilhas, 27, a graduate of the Faculty of Nutrition and Food Sciences of the University of Porto, on the speakers' podium.

In the case of the CDS-PP, a political force led by the Minister of Defense, Nuno Melo, the president of the Parliamentary Group, Paulo Núncio, was appointed.

The solemn session begins at 11:30 am, with the first speech by the PAN deputy, Inês de Sousa Real, followed by Paulo Núncio (CDS), Rui Tavares (Livre), Paulo Raimundo (PCP, Mariana Mortágua (Bloco de Esquerda), Rui Rocha (Iniciativa Liberal), André Ventura (Chega), Pedro Nuno Santos (PS), and Ana Gabriela Cabilhas.

The duration of the speeches by each parliamentary group is six minutes, but that of Inês Sousa Real, the sole PAN deputy, will be only three minutes.

As is customary in the solemn sessions of April 25, before the final speech by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the president of the Assembly of the Republic, José Pedro Aguiar-Branco, will speak. This year, in an unprecedented move, he will institutionally represent parliament in the popular parade on Avenida da Liberdade in Lisbon.

Although the solemn session is scheduled to begin at 11:30 am, the ceremony will begin at 10:00 am with the guard of honor, consisting of a battalion representing the three branches of the Armed Forces, with the National Standard, band, and fanfare, taking up position on the sidewalk in front of the Assembly of the Republic.

According to protocol, the presidents of the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of Justice will arrive at the Assembly of the Republic at 10:50 am and 10:55 am, respectively, and the prime minister at 11:00 am.

At 11:14 am, the Presidential Pavilion will be hoisted on the main balcony of the São Bento Palace, at which time José Pedro Aguiar-Branco will proceed to the arrival point of the President of the Republic, next to the National Standard.

One minute later, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa will receive military honors, and the band and fanfare will play the national anthem. The head of state will then review the guard of honor, accompanied by the president of the Assembly of the Republic.

At the end of the solemn session, the President of the Republic will proceed to the Noble Hall of Parliament for a visit to the exhibition entitled "Freedom for Us," organized with the Arpad Szenes-Vieira da Silva Foundation and officially inaugurated on Tuesday.

Last year, immediately before the solemn session of April 25, a welcoming ceremony was held for the President of Brazil, Lula da Silva, which was marked by an incident caused by the Chega bench.

As soon as the President of Brazil began his speech, the Chega deputies stood up and held up three types of posters, which read "Enough corruption," "A thief's place is in prison," and others with the colors of the Ukrainian flags.

The President of Brazil continued his speech for a few more minutes, but as soon as there was a pause, the benches on the left and the PSD applauded him enthusiastically, while the Chega deputies banged on the table, which led the then president of the Assembly of the Republic, Augusto Santos Silva, to intervene.

"The deputies who want to remain in the room must behave with civility, courtesy, and the education required of any representative of the Portuguese people. Enough insults, enough degradation of institutions, enough shaming the name of Portugal," said Santos Silva, visibly irritated.

Lula da Silva then continued his speech, with the Chega deputies remaining standing and holding up the posters, responding to the applause with booing.

At the end, Santos Silva apologized to Lula da Silva on behalf of the Portuguese parliament and thanked him for his "courage and education," a moment that was applauded by the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa.
