"Neither Chega nor the Communists are acceptable. It is necessary that the Portuguese do not fall for the trick. There are no good extremisms", said Jardim, when questioned by journalists about whether an agreement between the PSD and Chega in Madeira would be acceptable.

The historical leader of the PSD, who was speaking in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, on the sidelines of a conference on the 50th anniversary of April 25, defended that the social democrats cannot "get caught up in the talk" that "there are good extremisms".

"What is being sold to the Portuguese is that the left-wing extremisms are good and the right-wing extremism is bad. No. They are both bad. There are parties like the PSD that go along with that intentionally sold tune of good extremism and bad extremism. The PSD must not get caught up in that talk", he stressed.

Alberto João Jardim praised the leader of the Azores executive, José Manuel Bolieiro, and confessed that he has "behaved as a political adversary" of the President of the Government of Madeira, Miguel Albuquerque.

"I endorse everything that Dr. Bolieiro has done in the Azores. He is an intelligent man with a lot of common sense. I have so much confidence in him that I endorse him", he highlighted.

Questioned about the parliamentary incidence agreement signed in the previous legislature between the PSD/Azores and Chega, the former President of the Government of Madeira considered that the situations of the archipelagos are different.

Alberto João Jardim insisted that he thinks an agreement between the PSD and Chega in Madeira is "wrong".

"Madeira is going through a critical situation. I think, above all, that it has lost strength outside Madeira, both in Lisbon and in the European Union", he defended.

Alberto João Jardim participated in a conference together with Mota Amaral on April 25, organized by the Ponta Delgada City Council.
