The yellow warning, the least severe on a scale of three, applies between 9 pm on Friday and 12 noon on Saturday, covering the districts of Braga, Bragança, Castelo Branco, Guarda, Porto, Viana do Castelo, Vila Real and Viseu.

The IPMA predicts snowfall above 1,100 metres, with accumulation that could be up to five centimetres above 1,200 metres. In the districts of Castelo Branco and Guarda the forecast is for snowfall above 1,200 metres, with accumulation that could be up to 10 centimetres above 1,600 metres.

The probable impacts, according to the IPMA, are related to disruptions caused by the snowfall and possible ice formation, leading for example to road closures or restrictions on some roads, damage to structures or trees, and disruption to local supplies.

According to the forecasts published on the official website, on Friday the minimum temperatures will vary between six and 13 degrees Celsius on the mainland, and the maximum temperatures between 12 and 20 degrees. The lowest temperatures will be in the north and inland north and centre regions.

On Saturday, in general, there will be a drop in temperatures on the mainland, with Bragança and Guarda recording minimum temperatures of three degrees.
