In the same text in which it condemns the Iranian attacks, on the night of 13 to 14 April, the European Parliament (EP) also deplores Israel's attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus, recalling that diplomatic and consular facilities are protected by international law. The resolution, passed with 375 votes in favour, 20 against and 58 abstentions, welcomes the decision by the Council of the European Union (EU) to impose sanctions on Iran, namely on the country's manufacture and supply of drones and unmanned missiles to Russia and the Middle East region, and calls for them to be urgently implemented. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps should be included in the EU list of terrorist organisations, a decision that the EP says is long overdue, given the organisation's activities on European soil. MEPs call on the Council and the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, to add Hezbollah to the same list. The EP reiterates its support for the security of Israel and its citizens and condemns the simultaneous rocket launches carried out by Hezbollah, in Lebanon, and by Houthi rebels, in Yemen, against the Golan Heights.
