Hamas has released a propaganda video showing young Israeli-American hostage Hersh Goldberg-Polin – the first proof that he survived serious injuries during his capture on October 7.

The authenticity and date of the video, released on the Telegram messaging app on Wednesday, could not be independently verified, but in it, he refers to being held for 200 days – suggesting it was filmed either today or to mark April 24, exactly 200 days since Hamas launched its attack.

Goldberg-Polin’s family has given permission for Israeli media to share the video, which shows him missing his left hand, which was blown off by a grenade at the SuperNova festival. He also has scars on his face and head.

Hamas frequently releases videos of hostages in an attempt to pressure the Israeli government into agreeing to its terms and as a form of psychological warfare. In the videos, they often read statements prepared by the terror group.

Hersh Goldberg-Polin, 23, was captured at the music festival on October 7 when the Islamist group stormed across the border with Israel, killing some 1,200 people and taking 253 hostages, most of them civilians. He was shown in a video at the time with serious injuries to his arm.
