Angola exported less oil in the first quarter of this year
Angola exported 94.4 million barrels of crude oil in the first quarter of this year, down 8.43% compared to the fourth quarter of 2023, having raised $7.7 billion (7.2 billion euros), the government announced today.

According to the Secretary of State for Oil and Gas, José Barroso, similar to previous quarters, China led the destination of Angolan crude oil exports, with 49.65% of the total volume, followed by India (13.12%), Spain (8.76%), Indonesia (6.93%), France (4.33%) and the United States of America (4.11%).
The average price of Angolan crude oil was $83.16 per barrel.
Regarding the value collected by the Angolan State from the export of crude oil, there was also a 10% decrease compared to the last quarter of 2023 and an increase of 11.93% compared to the same period last year.
Of the volume exported, the National Oil and Gas Agency (concessionaire) leads the list with 26.66%, followed by Sonangol (state oil company) with 15.78%, and among the international companies, Azule Energy stands out, with 16.25% and TotalEnergies with 11.68%.
José Barroso, who spoke at the presentation of the results of the Angolan oil and gas industry in the first three months of 2024, stressed that gas exports, in the period in question, were 966 thousand metric tons, of which 77.64% represents LNG (liquefied natural gas), totaling $393.6 million (369.7 million euros) of the volume exported.
The Angolan official stressed that despite the fact that gas exports represent an increase of 0.55%, compared to the previous quarter, the value of its commercialization was lower by around 37.48%, due to lower prices on the international market.
