After a victorious debut against the Italian Flavio Cobolli (6-2 and 6-3), the Majorcan player, 37 years old, was not able to prevail today against an opponent better ranked in the ATP.

Against the current 11th placed in the hierarchy and fourth seed of the Spanish clay court tournament, Nadal (644th), winner of 22 Grand Slam tournaments, was eliminated after one hour and 54 minutes, by 7-5 and 6-1.

On Tuesday, the Spaniard won again on his favorite surface, something that had not happened since June 5, 2022, when he beat the Norwegian Casper Ruud, in three sets, to win the 14th title at Roland Garros and extend his record of scepters in the 'cathedral of clay', the second major of the season.

Nadal had not played an official match since the Brisbane tournament in early January, when he returned to the circuit after a year's absence due to injury.
