Fenerbahçe explains (surreal) Super Cup withdrawal after 3 minutes
Turkish club says it entered "the field not to win, but to defend the truth".

Fenerbahçe broke the silence at the beginning of the afternoon this Monday, and explained, in the form of a statement issued through the official platforms, the protest attitude assumed in the Turkish Super Cup clash.
The Yellow Canaries entered the field with a team formed exclusively by youth team players, and left the field after three minutes, following a goal scored by Mauro Icardi. Now, they emphasize: "We entered the field, not to win, but to defend the truth".
"One of the decisions made at the Extraordinary General Assembly was to postpone the Super Cup final to a later date, due to the Europa Conference League quarter-final matches, and to insist on a foreign referee, due to the unfair football climate", it can be read.
"Otherwise, the team would either use the U-19 squad or not participate at all. The club's respective request was also rejected by the Turkish Football Federation", continues the note, which lists a series of complaints.
"In view of these decisions, and in response to the ultimate rejection of the Turkish Football Federation and all the injustices recorded, Fenerbahçe came very close to playing the Super Cup final only with the U-19 team. The match ended with our team leaving the field", it concludes.
