Rui Tavares recalls "the most beautiful revolution of the 20th century"
The spokesman for the Free Party recalled today the 25th of April 1974 as the "most beautiful revolution of the 20th century", a date that he considered unique, appealing to a country "full of desires for political objects" against the enemies of the revolution.

"The reason why the 25th of April went around the world is because it was the most beautiful revolution of the 20th century, and it is ours", considered Rui Tavares, in the Assembly of the Republic, where the solemn commemorative session of the fiftieth anniversary of the 25th of April 1974 is taking place.
In an intervention strongly applauded by the Livre bench but also by the PS, Rui Tavares stated that there were several important milestones after the 25th of April, but stressed that they are incomparable "with the day that created them".
Tavares warned that those who "desire power" always want to "be on everyone's lips" and for that, "the best way is to belittle or profane the 25th of April".
"Therefore, I ask you, let's not give them that pleasure", he appealed, arguing that "it is by filling the country with objects of political desire" that the country will be able to continue to "dream of April".
