Neuville finished this second day of the event with a time of 2:09.46 hours, leaving Elfyn Evans in second place, 4.9 seconds behind, with Frenchman Sébastien Ogier (Toyota Yaris) in third, 11.6 seconds behind.

In this way, Neuville provisionally scores the 18 points corresponding to the victory on Saturday, which will only be confirmed if he finishes the Sunday stage, the third and last of the Croatian event.

"This afternoon was complicated because of the weather. We came to fear that we had made a mistake in the choice of tires, but, fortunately, it stopped raining and we managed to achieve good times in the special stages", explained Neuville.

The Belgian driver admitted that "it is not easy to know which is the best choice [of tires]", but that he decided based on "instinct".

"Even if you know the special stages very well, they are still very difficult, narrow and tight", he stressed.

Evans opted for three soft tires, two rain tires and one hard tire, which ended up harming his performance since the rain did not appear.

On Sunday, four more special stages are planned, with a total of 55 timed kilometers, including the final 'power stage', which distributes 15 points to the 15 fastest.
