The trial had proceeded relatively quickly until Tuesday, when two jurors were dismissed on Thursday.
The case is the first of four criminal charges against Trump stemming from hush-money payments made by Michael Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer and personal “fixer,” to porn actress Stormy Daniels to keep her from going public with allegations of an extramarital sexual encounter.
Trump has pleaded not guilty to the 34-count indictment alleging falsifying business records.
In addition to New York, Trump also faces criminal charges in Washington and Georgia related to his efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat, and in Florida, where he is accused of illegally retaining classified documents after leaving office in 2021.
Trial dates have not yet been set for the other three criminal cases.
