The Guardia Civil seized about 25,000 kilograms of hashish at the port of Algeciras, in the Spanish province of Cadiz. The narcotic was hidden in a truck carrying melons, coming from Morocco.
In a press release, issued this Friday, the authority revealed that the market value could reach 50 million euros and the truck was inspected after a drug-sniffing dog gave the alert.
The Guardia Civil agents then decided to open the truck's trailer, which, according to the documentation presented by the driver, was carrying melons bound for Perpignan, in France.
Inside, 22 wooden boxes were found, in which "a large number of bundles of hashish" were hidden.
