Nico Hulkenberg is leaving Haas. The American team announced this Friday that it will not renew with the German driver, who has been at Haas since last season. A few minutes later, Sauber announced his signing from 2025.
This is a surprising decision, since there had never been any rumors about this change by the German driver.
It should be recalled that this season, Hulkenberg was the only Haas driver to score points. The German achieved a 10th place in Saudi Arabia, a 9th place in Australia and in China he was again 10th.
With 13 years in Formula 1, Hulkenberg has already completed 208 Grands Prix, without ever reaching a podium. Hulkenberg has always been seen as one of the greatest promises of motorsport, but he has never represented a top team, which has always made this ambition difficult.
The best Hulkenberg has achieved in Formula 1 was a fourth place, a pole position and two fastest laps.
