Pau López played the hero in Marseille and helped the French team eliminate Benfica in the Europa League. After a good performance in regulation time, the Spanish goalkeeper saved António Silva's penalty and guided the Gallic triumph.

After the match, and speaking to journalists in the mixed zone, the Hispanic even admitted that his strength is not defending great penalties.

"You know that I'm not good at defending penalties. Yesterday [Thursday] morning we talked to Jean-Louis Gasset and Ruben (Blanco). And Ruben had the idea of changing things a bit and deciding before the game where to go. I knew that, before the game, each one had to choose their side. This time, we got 4 out of 4," Pau López began by saying, quoted by the French newspaper La Provence.

"I know my strengths and weaknesses. I accept that and I'm trying to improve. Today, we did things differently and it worked. I'm happy," he continued.

"We are very happy, especially for the fans. It's a complicated season for everyone, the fans deserve it. I'm happy with the team's work. We had young players, we gave everything, happy for everyone. It's a complicated season, but we're doing very well in the Europa League," he concluded.
