It’s called Pool 7, Compound 3 (P7C3), and it’s a new drug that could potentially be used to treat some of the symptoms of menopause. Early results are promising, according to research from the University of Central Florida in the US.
“Current drugs given to prevent bone loss after menopause target specific cells or proteins. They tend to cause problems with long-term use or have side effects in other tissues of the body,” Melanie Coathup, who led the study, told Fox News .

The findings were published in the journal Advanced Science . “There is a significant unmet medical need for women after menopause. P7C3 provides hope that a new treatment option may be on the horizon.”
“The bones were stronger. It took more force to break them with a machine, even though our models had little to no estrogen,” she said. And there were more positives.
“Importantly, P7C3 not only appeared to cause fewer unwanted side effects, it also improved the health of multiple tissues beyond bone and fat.”
