Virgil van Dijk has paid tribute to manager Jurgen Klopp and says he wants to be part of the "big transition" that will take place at Liverpool following the German's departure. Klopp has two games remaining as Liverpool manager - against Aston Villa on Monday before what is sure to be an emotional occasion at Anfield when Wolves visit on the final day of the Premier League season.

There will be an outpouring of emotion on Merseyside when Klopp says farewell after nine and a half years of huge success and transformation, with his exit inevitably leading to speculation regarding the futures of his players.

"The focus is now on the last two games and then the club will focus on who the new manager is going to be. There will be a big transition and I am part of that," said Van Dijk. "There is nothing I can discuss (regarding my future) because there is nothing going on. Like I said, I am very happy here, I love the club and it also suits me as well. It is a big part of my life already," he added.

"There will be changes and I wouldn't say scary is the right word, but it is exciting as well what is going to happen now. Let's see," said the Dutchman. Of Klopp, he could only speak in glowing terms:

"He is a fantastic manager, a great human being and we have a great relationship. I am very proud I played for him, I fought for the badge with him and the success we had over the years," he said.
