As redes sociais fomentam, hoje em dia, a partilha de (quase) todos os momentos. E quanto mais glamorosos e felizes, melhor.

Há, inclusive, quem pareça transmitir uma vida que não é real e neste caso isso gerou ameaças de morte.

A blogger Scarlett London publicou recentemente uma foto que pretendia demonstrar aquele que seria o acordar perfeito. Na imagem, a jovem aparecia perfeitamente maquilhada e penteada, numa cama cheia de balões de hélio e um pequeno-almoço delicioso.

A fotografia da jovem de 24 anos gerou, porém, muitas críticas.

Isto porque muitos consideraram que se tratava de um cenário demasiado exagerado para um pequeno-almoço e acusaram a jovem de 24 anos de estar a simular algo que não era real e estar, assim, a iludir muitas pessoas. Prova disso, seriam as panquecas com morangos que muitos alegam tratar-se de tortillas pré-cozinhadas.

Na legenda da foto podia ler-se: "Os melhores dias começam com um sorriso e pensamentos positivos. E panquecas. E morangos. E chá".

A imagem foi publicada no Instagram, mas bastou que um seguidor a colocasse no Twitter para que Scarlett fosse colocada sob fogo.

"Isto é tão ridículo de tantas maneiras. Tudo nesta fotografia é ridículo e FALSO. Nem sei por onde começar: se pelas tortillas ou se pelo posicionamento das coisas", escreveu um seguidor, enquanto outro considerou que são imagens como estas que criam "falsas expetativas" sobre a vida às jovens.

Scarlett, que já esteve de férias no Funchal, na Madeira, revelou através de outra publicação que a imagem em causa fez com que fosse alvo de comentários negativos e que chegou mesmo a receber ameaças de morte.

"Nas últimas 48 horas, homens e mulheres adultas, mulheres que lutam pela igualdade, jornalistas, atrizes e apresentadores descobriram o meu Instagram e decidiram criticar-me em frente a todos", começa por escrever a blogger, lembrando que quem a conhece e segue sabe que "jamais tenta transmitir, através das suas a fotos, que esta é a sua vida real". 

"Às vezes as minhas fotos são caprichosas e estranhas e um pouco cor-de-rosa demais, mas não as apresento como uma versão idealista que as jovens deveriam perseguir", continua, lembrando que a sua conta de Instagram foi criada com o intuito de dar a conhecer uma condição  digestiva da qual padece e que aquilo que pretende transmitir é que é possível ter uma vida feliz apesar da doença.

In the last 48 hours, grown men & women, MP’s, women’s equality representatives, journalists, actresses and broadcasters have discovered my Instagram feed and decided to pick it apart online, in front of thousands. Each time I refresh my page, hundreds of new nasty messages pour onto my Instagram, Twitter and YouTube, some of which have contained malicious death threats. There are now hundreds of thousands of tweets circling the internet, shaming me. I implore those mindlessly sharing this content to research who I am as a person, before they further drag my name and image through the mud. Yes, I do adverts on here, but only with brands I genuinely use and would spend money on myself. My feed isn’t a place of reality (let’s talk about Exhibit A - above - I mean who spends their time in such a beautiful city, perched on a ledge, ice-cream in hand and smile permanently affixed to her face, it’s staged guys). Sometimes my photos are whimsical and OTT and a little too pink, but I’m not presenting this as an ‘idealistic’ version of life that young girls should aspire to. Those who follow me will know my reality. I try to raise awareness for the digestive condition I suffer from, the same condition that years ago threatened me graduating from university. My Instagram has been an outlet to show you can be positive and have fun with life, despite this condition. I personally don’t think my content is harmful to young girls but I do agree Instagram can present a false expectation for people to live up to. And I am wholeheartedly sorry if I’ve ever made anyone feel inadequate through my content. My life mission is quite the opposite. I am a strong 24-year-old woman who has experienced bullying in the past. I am and will be okay after this hideous experience. But another young girl or guy as the subject of a targeted hate campaign might not be okay. Please remember at the centre of of every viral storm is a human being. ️
