Stefano Domenicali has spoken out about Formula 1's expanded 2025 calendar. The CEO of the motorsport's top tier has sent a clear message to drivers, such as Alonso and Verstappen, who have been critical of the number of Grands Prix on the schedule.
"I see 24 as the right number for the moment," he said, speaking to Sky Sports. "The good news for this year is that I committed with the teams and the promoters to announce the calendar much earlier than normal, so that everybody can organise themselves."
"I believe 24 [races] is better than 12. I speak with the drivers, if they want to race here they can race every day. If they don't want to race here, they don't have to. It's a matter of respect for the fans, who want to see them racing. It's something that is our responsibility, for all the fans, for our partners, promoters and shareholders. It's the magic of the sport that we live because we need heroes that love what they do. And I can guarantee that they love it," Domenicali added.
