Among the titles that filed the complaint in a federal court in New York are The New York Daily News, the Chicago Tribune and the Denver Post.

"We spent billions of dollars to gather information and deliver the news in our publications and we cannot authorize OpenAI and Microsoft to expand the Big Tech manual of stealing our work to build their own business at our expense", said the executive director of MediaNews Group and Tribune Publishing, Frank Pine, in a written statement.

The other participants in the class action are the Mercury News, also from MediaNews Group, the Denver Post, the Orange County Register, the St. Paul Pioneer-Press, the Orlando Sentinel and the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
