Lisbon, May 16, 2024 (Lusa) - The Justice Minister is receiving the three representative trade unions of the prison guards today for negotiations on the creation of a mission allowance, after a postponement for the presentation of counter-proposals.
The meeting was scheduled for Tuesday last week with the National Trade Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SNCGP), the Trade Union Association of the Prison Guard Corps (ASCCGP) and the Independent Trade Union of the Prison Guard Corps (SICGP), who called the proposal presented by the ministry humiliating.
Minister Rita Alarcão Júdice had proposed to these unions the same proposal that had been made to the GNR and PSP unions by the Ministry of Internal Administration, which provided for a supplement of 12% for commissioners, 9% for leaders and 7% for guards.
In addition to the valorisation of careers, the prison guards are demanding the updating of salaries and remuneration supplements, including the allocation of a mission supplement similar to that which was allocated to the Judiciary Police and which is also under negotiation with the PSP and the GNR.
According to the SNCGP, there are 3,885 prison guards, but around 1,500 more are needed.
