Cement consumption in Portugal grows 13.4% until february
Cement consumption in Portugal recorded a 13.4% year-on-year growth until February, to 646,000 tons, revealed today the Association of Civil Construction and Public Works Industrialists (AICCOPN).

In the first two months of this year, in turn, municipal licensing recorded a 0.9% decrease, in year-on-year terms, in the total number of licenses issued for new construction or rehabilitation of residential buildings, AICCOPN also states in the Statistical Summary of Housing.
As for the number of homes licensed in new constructions, it notes that there was a 12.4% decrease up to March, in year-on-year terms, for a total of 4,811 homes.
The volume of new housing loans granted by financial institutions, excluding renegotiations, recorded a 26.1% year-on-year increase in the first two months of this year, for a total of 2,321 million euros.
In February, the implicit interest rate on housing loans was set at 4.64%, which represents an increase of 2.11 percentage points, compared to the same month last year.
As for the median value of housing appraisal for bank loan purposes, in February, there was a 5.5% appreciation, in year-on-year terms, compared to variations of 2% in apartments and 6.1% in houses.
