O pai do autor do ataque bombista em Manchester já pertenceu a um grupo ligado à Al-Qaeda, revelou à Associated Press um antigo membro das forças de segurança líbias.
Segundo Abdel-Basit Haroun, Ramadan Abedi pertenceu, nos anos 90, a um grupo armado líbio com ligações à organização terrorista.
A agência noticiosa refere que o grupo LIFG foi dissolvido, mas que o pai de Salman Abedi continuou a pertencer a um movimento salafista ortodoxo conservador dentro do islamismo sunita.
