Group 1143 denied this Monday any involvement in the attack against immigrants in the early hours of Friday, in Porto.

"We have listened to our members, mainly in the North region and we have not had any feedback that anyone has participated in this event. So far, we have no information about it", said the spokesman and far-right activist Mário Machado, in an audio message left in a Telegram group of that organization.

"We will continue to do our activities as we have done so far. Our movement is unstoppable", he also said, dismissing responsibilities in the case, emphasizing the group's political activism. "The vast majority of the activities [of the group] are public", he said.

It should be recalled that in the early hours of Friday, there were three attacks and assaults on immigrants in the area of Campo 24 de Agosto, on Rua do Bonfim and on Rua Fernandes Tomás, in Porto.

According to the PSP, the attacks were carried out by several groups, with five immigrants being sent to hospital due to their injuries.

Following the attacks, six men were identified and one was arrested for illegal possession of a weapon.

Given the suspicion of the existence of a hate crime, the case is now being investigated by the Judiciary Police.
