With Portuguese goalkeeper Anthony Lopes in the starting 'eleven', Lyon took the lead through Corentin Tolisso in the 18th minute, but Brest turned the score around in the second half with three goals in seven minutes, by Steve Mounie (60) and Romain Del Castillo (64 and 67).

Lyon did not give up and drew level through Alexandre Lacazette (70) and Nicolas Tagliafico (79), who would later be sent off in the 87th minute, as would Pierre Lees-Melou of Brest.

In stoppage time, goalkeeper Marco Bizot was reckless and, in a tackle, hit Lacazette in the chest with his knee, who left the pitch on a stretcher and in apparent difficulty.

After reviewing the images, the referee pointed to the penalty spot, with Ainsley Maitland-Niles giving Lyon the win in the 90+16th minute.

With this defeat, Brest now has 53 points, 10 behind leaders Paris Saint-Germain, one more than Monaco and four more than Lille, coached by Paulo Fonseca, teams that have one less game, while Lyon moved up to seventh place, with 41 points, two behind Lens, which is sixth and occupies the last place for European competitions.

The matches of this round of the French teams that are still in European competitions -- PSG in the Champions League, Marseille, Benfica's opponent in the Europa League, and Lille in the Europa Conference League -- were postponed.

In a duel between teams needing points to move away from the relegation places, Nantes managed an important 1-0 home win over Le Havre, thanks to a goal by Kader Bamba in the 90+2nd minute.

The goal in stoppage time allowed Nantes to move up to 14th place, with 31 points, three more than Le Havre (15th), which has two more than Lorient (16th), in the play-off place, and Metz (17th), in the direct relegation zone.

Bottom-placed Clermont moved further away from safety after drawing 1-1 at home to Montpellier, now on 22 points, while the visitors are in 13th place, with 33.
